How can normal middle class people get into those celebrity hotspot clubs and restaurants?

I want to go to LA soon and go to restaurants like The Ivy, Il Sole, Mr. Chow's and clubs like Area or Hyde. How do you get in? Do you make a reservation at the restaurants? Do you have to be e celebrity to get into those clubs?
