You might think you have offended him, but actually it's probably quite the reverse. If he's decided he likes you, everything you say to each other will take on a new importance and significance. He's probably nervous about talking to you the way he used to.
You catch him looking at you. The subject of eye contact is mentioned in just about every dating article ever written, because it really is crucial. If you catch him looking at you, and you are interested, give him an encouraging smile. It won't be long before he takes things further.
He leans towards you when you talk. Most men have a very definite sense of personal space, so if he is encouraging you to move into his by leaning towards you, then he definitely wants to get close to you. Speaking in a low voice so that you have to move closer to listen may sound very contrived, but both men and women do it subconsciously when they are attracted to someone.
He makes excuses to touch you. Whether he is brushing a hair off your shoulder, checking how cold your hands are, or putting his arm around you protectively in a busy club, finding reasons to touch you is a glaringly obvious sign that he is interested. A male colleague used to flick my ponytail with a ruler every time he passed by which really annoyed me until I thought about it in the light of the rest of his behavior and realized he was actually trying to flirt with me!
He turns up everywhere. You go to the bar, and suddenly he's there. You go to make a coffee at work, and there he is in the kitchen. It's your night in the laundry room and funny enough it happens to be his night too. These apparent coincidences are just his way of trying to get close to you and get involved in your life. Don't make fun of it if you're happy for him to keep it up.
Watch his body language. If he's preening himself, straightening his tie or checking his hair, he's trying to impress you. If he turns his body towards you as he talks, or tries to make himself appear larger or more powerful by puffing out his chest and pulling up to full height, he definitely has you in his sights.
To save wasting your energy on a serial flirter, check how he is behaving with other women around you. If you are the only one that seems to be getting the full force of these attentions, he really is into you and he won't need much encouragement to take things further.
